Luke 8:43-48 New Living Translation (NLT)
43 A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. 44 Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.
45 “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.”
46 But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.” 47 When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed. 48 “Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”
This morning when I woke up this story was on my mind. Mostly when I read scripture, I try to relate it to my life and what it is God is exactly trying to say to me.
While this story has been taught numerous times in numerous lessons and prophetic insight had been spoken about it, when it comes to the word of God you truly can’t understand the weight of it until it goes from your mind to your heart.
What stood out to me today was the image of her crawling to God on her hands and knees and only getting a chance to touch a sliver of his garment.
In that moment, he represented more than just a person. He represented an answered prayer, her faith, hope and most importantly her dreams.
She wasn’t just reaching for SOMEONE she was reaching toward SOMETHING.
I thought about my own life and realized that this is so prophetic and true to life for everyone.
Some dreams and aspirations you hope for come so easy, you just go out and do it and it’s done.
But it’s those other dreams,
those other dreams you have to work a little harder for, wait a little longer for and suffer for a while to get.
I remember when I went to get my masters I was denied the very first time I tried. I was devastated. It was my dream to go to that school and that dream had just been crushed. But a sliver of hope came for me after I had my daughter. My resilience to the struggles in my life at that time was the hope and the sliver of my dream I needed to reapply and pour my heart into the acceptance letter.
Needless to say the first time I was devastated, the second time I rejoiced when I finally received my acceptance letter.
In the end, what you need can always be achieved if you just believe. It’s not how you get to the end of the goal but only that you get there.
Sometimes in life, you will have to crawl and may even only touch a sliver, yet in that moment, a sliver of seeing you’re dream begin to grow can provide you with a lifetime of change, comfort, and peace.
Today I encourage you to crawl instead of walk, rest instead of run, doesn’t matter how or when you get there, just know that you will if you have faith and believe you will <3.
